GARMENTS for the GULF
The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico is one of the biggest man-made catastrophes in history. Oil is leaking into a vital eco system killing everything in it's path. Although I live in Chicago and have spent most of my life in the Midwest, I grew up spending much of my childhood in Bradenton, Florida and I have fond memories of seeing dolphins and manatees close enough to touch, brown pelicans swooping down to catch fish and laughing gulls waking me each morning.
My mother appreciated all of these creatures and she taught us how important each species was to our own well being. Everything from the tiniest bug to the largest shark is significant to this area and to watch the entire Gulf get soaked in oil is a crime. I have spent many nights awake, worrying about what will happen to this area and to the entire U. S. since the leak occured and I have felt totally helpless. What will we do without the dolphins, the starfish, the sand dollars and all the vital habitat needed to perpetuate life as we know it? I personally, can't sit and watch it die and yet, I don't have the expertise to save it either.
That is why Majamas has started Garments for the Gulf. Majamas will donate a percentage of every wholesale order we ship in the months of July and August to the National Wildlife Federation Gulf Restoration Fund. By placing an order that ships during these months, you will contribute to our mission. Think of it this way, not only are you saving an innocent creature but you are also saving yourself. Restaurants, fishermen and tourism all rely on these animals surviving this oil spill. Without these creatures and this vital eco system surviving, we humans won't sustain ourselves.
